I got some fresh produce from our garden, in the chilli container there is, black pearl which is hot, twilight rainbow which is mild to hot and birdseye chillis which are mildish. The chilli in the grow bed is the trinidad scorpion butch which is rated 15/10 for heat so im excited to see it grow and to try it. The corn wasnt as sweet as i would like but still ate the whole thing.

After a week of heat and wind my trinidad scorpion butch chilli plant has been hanging in trying to survive as we went away for a few days camping and although I had setup a shaded area for it it still had a lot of heat and sun etc, so i planted it into the grow bed and will see how it takes.

So today i put together a Aquaponics system with the assistance of Joe from Joeponics, it has proven to work well now to wait till the final pipes to dry and finish testing tomorrow, the system will allow me to grow 16 plants in the pipe system and about another 10 or so in the grow bed, this will feed off the amonia of the fish once they have been put in in the next couple of weeks.

In the beginning we had to pull out tree roots and make a garden area so we could grow some things, we added soil and potting mix, put 1000 worm eggs in the compost bin and added live worms to the worked area. With a boost of nutrients monthly they have proven to grow.

The hydroponic system is all setup and is working, its on a timer and fruit and veggies are in. With nutrients that get pumped through the water system the veggies grow in clay balls which the root system grows through which doesn't require any soil or potting mix. It uses 20% less water than your garden. Joe from Joeponics has assisted me with the build.

As you see in the video the corn has grown a lot and has new shoots stemming off, im hoping they all grow and not slow the plant down. The last 2 weeks i have gave it a dose of nutrients and can clearly see the results.

I fixed up the pump filter as it had a minor leak, it was leaking through the sealant i put on, i redid the sealant and let it dry fir 24 hours before reassembling it. Works great now, fish will be going in the weekend so all happy with it now.

The sun was out and the pump has been working great, a cheaper pump i got off ebay has proven its worth and is going great. It pumps 1000 litres per hour so the pond is cycling itself so the water should be a lot cleaner after a few days.

So you can see now the viggies have grown a lot, i have given them a dose of nutrient booster and now in another week should see a big growth spurt. Good to see the sunflowers up and growing.

Installed the new fish pond, set it up with a filter and solar power, should keep the water cleaner and keep the fish to come happy. It is not battery backed up so only works when the sun is shining.
